Heroic Deed or Accomplishment: PHILANTHROPIST: A hero can come in many forms, one that may risk his or her life to save someone from disaster. It may be someone that gives their labor and time in caring for the ill, or those that need help. For those that are citizen Heroes, it is always a special and considerate person who has concern for the benefit of others.
Ms. Jewel Kilcher is well qualified as a hero for her humanitarian efforts of helping others. Jewel and her mother/manager, Lenedra Carroll, established a nonprofit humanitarian organization in 1999, called Higher Ground for Humanity (HGH). Their organization is meant to inspire positive change on global, community, and individual levels. You can learn more about HGH by visiting highergroundhumanity.org. Ms. Kilcher contributes heavily to various humanitarian programs, which is a very commendable effort.
Jewel is well known in the entertainment world as a talented individual, with expertise in singing, song writing, poetry, and as an actress. None of this fame and wealth has caused Ms. Kilcher to forget her roots, and she continues to understand and sympathize with those less fortunate. Jewel has been there and knows what it is to be poor. Her childhood, and teen years were filled with the need to have more, as has been the case with many individuals. The difference here is that many, once progress has been made, and life becomes much better, tend to forget those less fortunate, and forget where they came from. Ms. Kilcher has not forgotten her roots, and knows very well the suffering that many people of the world are enduring today. She has a deep consideration for others, and is proving that she cares by contributing to humanity in many ways, including HGH. Jewel has been quoted as saying '' I hope when this life is over, I can look back on my past and say with pride I did something meaningful with my fame, and that my life was not wasted on things of less importance''.
Ms. Kilcher is to be saluted as a hero, and it is hoped that others will observe and be persuaded to follow in this Humanitarian and back to basic grass roots for society path!
